A HW approach.
Others'll give some better suggestions, but how about 1st making
certain that the connecting device at the end of the ethernet cable
opposite your eth0 PHY is really up and working fine ?? Problem could
be at the connecting networking device (hub, switch, router) or
further upstream. If its a hub, switch, router... etc., then is it
plugged in and are its activity lights lit ?? You might wish to use
another working laptop/desktop to plug into the connecting device to
isolate the cause of the "reset until link up" message. If this other
laptop/desktop boots up fine in Finnix without the error message, then
chances are good that the connecting networking device is working just
fine.
Actions after this might be reseating NIC eth0 and then making doubly
certain that each RJ45 end of the ethernet cable is really inserted
tightly into both the NIC eth0 and into the networking device at the
other end of the cable.
If after performing this, you still get the same error message, then
it might be time to swap NIC eth0 and the ethernet cable with another
NIC and ethernet cable which are known to work fine. If after this
swap, you boot with Finnix and you DO NOT see the same error message,
then you probably have a bad NIC eth0 or (less likely) a bad ethernet
cable.
