Sorry for the wait.  New stage1/stage2 scripts are in place, and the
Remastering guide has been updated:

I'll have to do some modifications, but the plan is to take those
scripts and package them, so they'll be an "apt-get install" away.
The problem has been that moving those scripts is a manual process
that I tend to forget (because changes to the stage scripts don't
happen to often).
